Creating Cadence Categories (EverTrue Owners)
Note: Cadences is a feature of Signal by EverTrue. If you have questions about Signal, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Creating cadence categories is key to ensuring your team has the ability to create custom cadences in Signal! These categories will make it easy for your team to find and use cadences in Signal’s Cadences tab. As an EverTrue Owner with admin permissions, you can create categories for permanent groupings like “Annual Giving,” or for short-term initiatives like “Giving Day 2025.”
To start adding categories for your team to use, head to EverTrue’s Data Manager. Below, we’ll review how to add and modify cadence categories. Once added, you can begin creating custom cadences for each new category!
Adding a Cadence Category
Step 1. Click Add Category in the Categories Tab
To add a new cadence category, navigate to your Categories tab and click Add Category in the upper-right corner.
Step 2. Input and Save Category Details
An Add Category popup will appear where you can enter the following details:
- Category Name (REQUIRED): Use this field to add a title to your category. Titles are limited to 120 characters.
- Is this a DXO Category? (REQUIRED): Use this field to specify whether the category is part of a DXO program. This selection helps inform the data powering certain aspects of your Signal Clarity Dashboards.
- Cadence Category Users: Use this field to add users from your organization to the cadence category. You can search users by name to find and add them. Once added, any cadences associated with the categories will be visible in the Your Cadences table of their Signal Cadences tab.
Click Save to finish adding the cadence category!
Once a category has been added, it will appear in your Categories tab. This tab displays all categories created for your organization, including those created by you and by other admins on your team. Categories are listed alphabetically for easy navigation.
After adding categories for your organization, you can start building custom cadences for each category directly from the Data Manager Cadences tab, or from your Signal Cadences tab!
Modifying Your Cadence Categories
Making changes to your cadence categories is simple! Below, we’ll explore how to edit and delete categories directly from your Categories tab.
Note: You will have access to modify all cadence categories within your organization’s cadence categories.
Step 1. Edit a Cadence Category
To edit a cadence category, click the three-dot button to the right of the category in the Categories table and select Edit Category. An Edit Category popup will appear in which you can adjust category details. After making your changes, click Save to finalize the edits.
Step 1a. Add and Remove Users
If you need to add additional users or remove existing users from a category, you can do so in the Edit Category popup. To add users, type their name in the Cadence Category Users search bar and select them. Click Save to finish adding.
To remove an existing user from the category, click the trashcan icon to the right of their name. This action will take effect immediately, and you’ll see a confirmation notification in the upper-right corner of your Categories tab.
Note: Users removed from a category will still be able to access cadences associated with that category through the All Cadences table on their Signal Cadences tab.
Step 2. Delete a Cadence Category
To delete a cadence category, click the three-dot button to the right of the category in the Categories table and select Delete Category. A Delete Category popup will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion. Click Delete to remove the category.
Note: If there are active cadences associated with a category you’re trying to delete, you won’t be able to delete it. A notification will alert you to these active cadences if you attempt to delete it. To delete the category, you’ll need to either delete the associated cadences or update their Cadence Category field to a different category.
