All About: Signal Home Screen
Note: The Home Screen is a feature of Signal by EverTrue. If you have questions about Signal, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
What is Signal’s Home Screen?
The Signal Home Screen serves as your login landing page, offering you a comprehensive view of your work week. Here, you will find a roadmap for the day’s tasks, insight into the week’s upcoming to-dos, touchpoint recommendations for your assigned constituents, and more! This space contains all the information you need to nurture relationships with your current and prospective donors.
The Home tab is divided into four main sections, each serving as a component of a relationship-building compass:
- Upcoming
- Your Assigned Constituents
- Metrics
- Resources
Together, these sections help guide you along your journey by highlighting who, what, where, when, and how you can connect with your donors. Below, we’ll explore the functionalities of each section on the Home tab. Let’s get started!
Navigating Your Home Screen
Step 1. Review Your Upcoming Section
At the top of your Home tab, you’ll find the Upcoming section, which is designed to help you plan your day and week. It is divided into two tables:
- Today
- Your Next 5 Days
Both tables are informed by all of the cadence categories to which you’ve been added, ensuring that the cadence steps displayed reflect your full range of upcoming outreach actions. To learn more about cadence categories, take a look at our article, Creating Cadence Categories.
Step 1a. Review the Today Table
Near the top of the Today table, you’ll see the current date displayed followed by a Cadence Steps counter tallying all incomplete steps due on that date for constituents added to a cadence. Steps are categorized by type (e.g., Emails, Calls). When you are ready to carry out these steps, click View Cadences to be taken to your Cadences tab.
Below this, you’ll find an Other Tasks counter tallying all of your ad-hoc tasks due on that date. Tasks are also categorized by type (e.g., Call, Text). Click View Tasks to be taken to your Tasks tab or + Add Task to create a new task directly from your home screen!
Note: These counters include any cadence steps or tasks that are currently overdue.
At the bottom of the Today table, you’ll see a Trips and Meetings section. If scheduled, a count of your day’s planned trips and meetings will populate here. When meetings are included, a preview of each meeting’s details is also listed. Click View to be taken to your Trips & Meetings tab, where you can fully review or make changes to these events.
Step 1b. Review the Your Next 5 Days Table
On the right-hand side of the Upcoming section, you’ll find the Your Next 5 Days table (based on business days), which serves as a looking glass into your future. A bar graph of your upcoming cadence steps and tasks sits at the top of this table, helping you forecast the time needed to complete these to-dos. For instance, if you notice that Thursday is packed with phone calls, you can plan accordingly by reserving a phone booth or quiet place to work!
Scheduled steps and tasks are tallied by action type, represented by bars paired back to each day. Hover over the bars for an individual date to see the totals for each action type. The combined daily totals are shown below each date in the graph.
Note: If you’ve paused your cadences and tasks, a message of “Your cadence steps and tasks are currently paused and will resume on [return date]” will appear at the top of this table.
Below this graph, you’ll see a Trips and Meetings section that includes a count of your trips and meetings scheduled over the next five days. Click View to be taken to the Trips & Meetings tab in your left-hand navigation bar.
Step 2. Review Your Settings Icon
In the upper-right corner of your Home tab, you’ll notice a settings gear icon.
Clicking on this icon will take you to your Signal Settings page. Here, you can do things like pause cadences and tasks and set up email and phone outreach!
Step 3. Review Your Assigned Constituents Section
The next section on your Home tab is Your Assigned Constituents. This section features Recommended Actions, designed to take the guesswork out of knowing when the time is right to reach out to your assigned constituents. Recommended Actions are divided into five categories:
- Made a gift in the last 15 days: Lists your assigned constituents who have made a gift within the last 15 days. Gift details like amount and gift date are included, making it easy to be specific when thanking these recent donors!
- Career Moves in the past 3 months: Lists your assigned constituents who have recently had a job change. Career details like role, company name, and the date the change was reported to Signal are included, so you can offer personalized congratulations when connecting with prospects on recent job changes!
- Upcoming gift anniversary in the next 30 days: Lists your assigned constituents whose gift anniversary is approaching in the next 30 days. Gift details like amount and gift date are included, so you can be specific when thanking them for their past gift (and potentially teeing them up for a renewal solicitation!).
- Unlogged Contact Reports: Lists your assigned constituents with meetings scheduled in the last 45 days that have no contact report (interaction) logged afterward. Details like the scheduled meeting date are included, making it easy to recall information when logging the interaction.
- Top rated DPS prospects without recent interactions: Lists your assigned constituents with a Donor Potential Score (DPS) of 70 or higher who have not had an interaction recorded in the last 6 months. Constituent details like their DPS and last gift date are included, so you be specific when engaging with them.
When a constituent populates into one of these categories, a three-dot button will appear to the right of their name. Click on this to access things like touchpoint prompts or the ability to add the constituent to a cadence.
Note: The Made a gift in the past 15 days and Upcoming gift anniversary in the next 30 days recommendations populate based on imported constituent giving data. If your organization is not importing this data, assigned constituents will not appear in these categories.
If you take action on a recommendation and want to remove it from your Signal Home Screen, you can mark it as complete by clicking on the circle that appears to the left of the constituent’s name. This action cannot be reversed, so make sure to only mark a Recommended Action as complete when you’re ready for it to be removed!
Step 3a. Review Recommended Actions Settings
On the right-hand side of Recommended Actions, you’ll find a settings gear icon. Click on this icon to access Recommended Actions Settings, where you can use checkboxes to customize which recommended actions are displayed on your home screen.
For the Made a gift in the past 15 days category, you can set a gift amount threshold and customize the time frame. The Top rated DPS prospects without recent interactions category also allows you to customize the time frame. Be sure to click Save to finalize any changes!
Note: If you update the gift amount threshold or time frame for the Made a gift in the past 15 days category, or the time frame for the Top rated DPS prospects without recent interactions category, any existing recommended actions based on the previous settings will still appear. The changes will only apply to future recommendations. Recommended actions generated with the old settings will remain until they are marked as complete!
Step 4. Review Your Metrics Section
Your Home tab features a Metrics section that provides access to Signal’s goal-tracking resources. Click on View Clarity to navigate to your Clarity tab, where you can view four dashboards:
- Signal Task Tracker: This dashboard illustrates task and cadence step progress. You’ll have visibility into upcoming, complete, and overdue tasks, and can track individual solicitor performance and overall cadence progress. These insights make it easier to gauge performance, and drive future action!
- Signal Activity: This dashboard provides a snapshot of your outreach activity over a selected timeframe. Use it to monitor total outreach actions, daily activity averages, and more! It includes benchmarking metrics, allowing you to gauge your efforts against those of the average Signal user and easily pinpoint areas for improvement.
Signal Activity YOY: This dashboard offers detailed insight into your outreach efforts. Whether you’re interested in tracking the number of meetings held, phone calls made, or emails, texts, and LinkedIn messages sent, this resource has you covered! You can use it to track team-wide trends, compare performances, and chart your individual progress.
- Signal Top Prospects: This dashboard highlights your top prospects, indicating those who have and have not yet been contacted. It uses data such as the Donor Potential Score (DPS) and capacity scores to identify the highest-value prospects that could benefit from a touchpoint. Get ready to crush your outreach and solicitation goals using these insights!
Step 5. Review Your Resources Section
The final section on your Home tab is Resources. Here, you can conveniently access webinars, blog articles, and help articles aimed at supporting your best work. EverTrue’s mission is to build relationships, inspire generosity, and improve lives. The curated content found in this section will provide you with the inspiration, tools, and resources you need to achieve the same!
