All About: Signal Home Screen
Note: The Home Screen is a feature of Signal by EverTrue. If you have questions about Signal, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
What is Signal’s Home Screen?
The Signal Home Screen is your login landing page and offers a comprehensive view of your work week. Here, you will find a roadmap for the day’s tasks, insight into the week’s upcoming to-dos, recommendations for engaging with constituents, and more! This space contains all the information you need to nurture relationships with both current and prospective donors.
The Home tab is divided into four main sections, each one a component of your relationship-building toolkit:
- Upcoming
- Your Assigned Constituents/Build a Strong Portfolio
- Signal Analytics
- Resources
Below, we will explore the function of each section on the Home tab. Let’s get started!
Navigating Your Home Screen
Step 1. Review the Upcoming Area
At the top of your Home tab, you will find the Upcoming section, which helps you plan your day and week. It contains two views:
- Today
- Your Next 5 Days
Note: If your cadences and tasks are paused, a banner will appear at the top of your Home tab with your resume date. The banner includes an option to resume work or edit the pause.
Review Today
At the top of the Today table, you will see the current date and a Tasks counter. This counter tallies all incomplete tasks due today, organized by action type (e.g., Emails, Calls). Click View Tasks to go to your Tasks tab where you can carry out these tasks, or + Add Task to create a new one directly from your Home tab!
Below that, you will find a Cadence Steps counter for your incomplete cadence steps due today, also categorized by action type. Click View Cadences to go to your Cadences tab where you can carry out these steps.
Note: These counters include overdue tasks and cadence steps.
At the bottom of the table, the Trips and Meetings section displays your day’s scheduled meetings and travel. Click View to open the Trips & Meetings tab, where you can review or make changes to these events.
Review Your Next 5 Days
In the Your Next 5 Days view at the right, you will see a bar graph forecasting your next five business days. This shows cadences steps and tasks tallied by action type, so you can plan ahead. Hover over each bar to see counts for each type.
Below the graph, a Trips and Meetings section includes a count of your upcoming meetings and travel. Click View to open the Trips & Meetings tab.
Step 2. Review Your Assigned Constituents (Portfolio Users)
The next section on your Home tab is Your Assigned Constituents. This section appears only if you have assigned constituents in your portfolio. It features Recommended Actions, which are timely, personalized prompts to help you stay engaged with your assignments.
Recommended Actions fall into five categories:
- Made a gift in the last 15 days: Lists constituents who gave within the designated time frame. Includes gift details like amount and date, making it easy to send tailored thank-you messages to these recent donors.
- Career Moves in past 3 months: Lists constituents who recently experienced a job change. Includes career details like role and the date change was reported to Signal, so you can offer personalized congratulations when connecting with prospects on these changes.
- Upcoming gift anniversary in the next 30 days: Lists constituents with gift anniversaries quickly approaching or that occurred recently. Includes gift details like amount and date, making it easy to send tailored thank-you messages for their gifts (and potentially teeing them up for a renewal solicitation!).
- Unlogged Contact Reports: Lists constituents who have meetings scheduled within the past 45 days without a logged contact report (interaction). Includes details like scheduled meeting date to help you recall information when logging the interaction.
- Top rated DPS prospects without recent interactions: Lists constituents with a Donor Potential Score (DPS) of 70 or higher who have not had an interaction recorded in the last 6 months. Includes constituent details like their DPS and last gift date, so you can engage with specific details at the ready.
When a constituent populates into one of these categories, a three-dot menu will appear to the right of their name. Click it to access action options, like opening an outreach prompt or adding them to a cadence.
Note: The Made a gift in the past 15 days and Upcoming gift anniversary in the next 30 days recommendations populate based on imported gift transaction data. If your organization does not import this data, assigned constituents will not appear in these categories.
If you take action on a recommendation, mark it complete by clicking the circle next to the constituent’s name. This removes the item from your view, and cannot be reversed.
Review Recommended Actions Settings
Click the settings gear icon on the right side of this section to access Recommended Actions Settings. Here, you can choose which recommendation types display. Certain categories include additional customizations:
- Made a gift in the past 15 days: Set a gift threshold amount and choose a timeframe.
- Top rated DPS prospects without recent interactions: Choose a timeframe.
Click Save to finalize any changes.
Note: Updates to gift threshold and timeframe settings only apply to future recommendations. Existing recommended actions based on previous settings will remain until marked complete.
Step 3. Review Build a Strong Portfolio (Non-Portfolio Users)
If you don’t have portfolio assignments, this section of your Home tab is Build a Strong Portfolio. It displays a series of our favorite saved searches, tailored to different advancement roles:
- Leadership & Gift Officer
- Prospect Development
- Annual Giving
Click a search name to open the Constituents tab with pre-applied filters. From there, you can save the search to your Saved Searches tab where you can easily track constituents who meet your criteria!
Step 4. Explore Signal Analytics
The Signal Analytics section includes quick access to goal-tracking dashboards available in Clarity, EverTrue’s dynamic analytics tool. It features three panels:
- What’s Working Best?: Click View for quick access to your Signal Activity dashboard, where you can view your engagement across outreach channels.
- Key Metrics: Click View to open your Signal Influence Dollars dashboard and track donations that follow outreach.
- See the Bigger Picture: Click View All Dashboards to open the Clarity tab and explore all available Signal dashboards.
These Tableau-powered dashboards are updated daily to reflect your most recent data sync.
Step 5. Explore Resources
The final section on your Home tab is Resources. This is where you will find quick links to webinars, blog articles, and help center content to support your best work. Whether you are looking for inspiration, new tactics, or how-to guides, this section has something to help you succeed.
