Editing Your Signal Videos

Note: Signal Video Powered by ThankView is a feature of Signal by EverTrue. If your team is interested in using Signal, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Signal Video Powered by Thankview gives you tools to polish your video content before sending. You can trim the video’s length, or add closed captions to make your message more accessible.

Below, we walk through how to trim a video and add closed captions before sending it. Let’s get started!

💡 Note: Signal Video is supported in Chrome and Safari browsers. It is not currently compatible with Microsoft Edge. We recommend using a supported browser for the best experience.

Trimming a Video

Step 1. Open Signal Video and Record, Upload, or Add a Video

To access Signal Video, open an email composer and click the Video button in the bottom-right corner. From there, you can record a new video, upload one from your computer, or select an existing video from your library.

If you need a refresher, check out our step-by-step articles before trimming:

Step 2. Select Trim in the Video Player Controls

Once you’re on the Review Video page, click the Trim button in the video player controls.

Step 3. Set Trim Handles

Two trim handles will appear on the video progress bar, one at the beginning and one at the end. Drag the handles to set your desired start and end points, then click the checkmark to apply your changes.

Trimming time may vary depending on the video’s length. You can close the window and continue drafting your email, and your trim will process in the background. When it completes, you will receive a notification in the upper-right corner of your screen. Reopen your video to find it trimmed to the new length.

Step 4. Revert a Trimmed Video (If Needed)

To undo a trim, open the video and click the Trim button again. Then, click the Revert button to the right of the progress bar to restore the original video.

💡 Note: The Revert button only appears after refreshing the page, or navigating away and returning.

Adding Closed Captions

Step 1. Open Signal Video and Record, Upload, or Add a Video

To access Signal Video, open an email composer and click the Video button in the bottom-right corner. From there, you can record a new video, upload one from your computer, or select an existing video from your library.

If you need a refresher, check out our step-by-step articles before adding closed captions:

Step 2. Expand the Video’s Settings

Once you’re on the Review Video page, click the settings gear button in the top-left corner to open the settings panel.

Step 3. Enable Closed Captions Toggle

Scroll to the Video Settings section at the bottom of the panel and turn on the Enable Closed Captions on Video toggle. A “Captioning in Progress” banner will appear at the top of the video while captions are generated.

Captioning may take a few minutes depending on the video’s length. You can close the window and continue working while captions finish processing in the background.

When captioning is complete:

  • The “Captioning in Progress” banner will disappear
  • Closed captions will appear at the bottom of the video preview and when the video is played from its landing page.
  • A CC label will appear in the video’s thumbnail in your Video Library to indicate that captions are available

💡 Note: You won’t receive a notification when captioning is finished. If you leave the Review Video page while captions generate, we recommend checking back later to confirm that the CC label appears in your Video Library.
