Defining Filters and Operators for Filters Beta

Note: Our product team is working to consolidate EverTrue's filtering experiences by merging the best functionalities of both Filters beta and classic Filters. Starting mid-February 2024, we will begin to limit Filters beta, Dynamic List, and Bookmarked Search usage and feature functionality in preparation for this work. 


Defining Filters 

Below, you will find definitions for all of EverTrue's filtering options found in Filters beta followed by definitions of the operator options that will impact your filtered results. 

Though most definitions speak to filtered results that match the selected criteria, please note that our filters can be used in the inverse! You can use operators to pull results that include or exclude constituents meeting the selected filter criteria. These will be found in the dropdown following your chosen filter.

When using Filters beta, you will notice some filters are paired back to an EverTrue icon. This icon indicates results matching the specified criteria are based on EverTrue Enrichment data. We will note filters using this data within their definitions. 


Contact Info Filters

Address Filter Group

  • City: Constituents who have an address in a city matching the selected criteria. 
  • Country: Constituents who have an address in a country matching the selected criteria.
  • Is Primary: Constituents who have an address marked as primary.
  • State: Constituents who have an address in a state matching the selected criteria.
  • Type: Constituents who have an address type matching the selected criteria (e.g. home address).
  • Zipcode: Constituents who have an address in a zip code matching the selected criteria.

Email Filter Group

  • Email: Constituents who have an email address matching the specified entry (e.g. contains @irs.gov).
  • Is Primary: Constituents who have an email address marked as primary.
  • Type: Constituents who have an email address type matching the selected criteria (e.g. personal email).

Name Filter Group

  • First Name: Constituents with a first name field matching the specified entry.
  • Last Name: Constituents with a last name field matching the specified entry.
  • Maiden Name: Constituents with a maiden name field matching the specified entry.
  • Middle Name: Constituents with a middle name field matching the specified entry.
  • Name: Constituents with any name field (e.g. first, last, middle, maiden, etc.) matching the specified entry.
  • Nickname: Constituents with a nickname field matching the specified entry.

Phone Filter Group

  • Is Primary: Constituents who have a phone number marked as primary.
  • Phone: Constituents who have a phone number matching the specified entry (e.g. contains "617").
  • Type: Constituents who have a phone number type matching the selected criteria (e.g. home phone).

School Filters

Constituents Filter Group

  • Constituency: Constituents matching the specified type (e.g. alumni, parent, board member, etc.).
  • Constituent ID: Constituents with a constituent ID matching the specified entry (e.g. contains "123-asd").
  • Graduation Year: Constituents who graduated from your school with the specified class year(s).
  • Reunion Year Group: Constituents who have reunion years matching the specified group (e.g. 1s and 6s, 2s and 7s).
  • Solicitation Codes: Constituents who have a solicitation code matching the selected criteria.

Education Filter Group

  • Degree: Constituents who obtained the specified diploma (e.g. BS, BA, Associate, etc.) from your school.
  • Degree Year: Constituents who obtained a degree from your school in the specified year(s). 
  • Major: Constituents who declared the specified major(s).
  • School Name: Constituents who are associated with a school name matching the selected criteria.

Demographics Filters

Career Filter Group

  • Company: Constituents who work(ed) at a company or companies matching the specified criteria (e.g. Amazon, Microsoft).
  • Company (ET): Constituents who work(ed) at a company or companies matching the specified criteria (e.g. Amazon, Microsoft), based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Function: Constituents whose work function (currently or previously) matches the selected criteria (e.g. communications).
  • Industry: Constituents who work(ed) in a particular industry matching the specified criteria (e.g. Aircraft).
  • Industry (ET): Constituents who work(ed) in a particular industry matching the specified criteria (e.g. Aircraft), based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Title: Constituents whose role title (currently or previously) matches the specified criteria (e.g. Account Manager).
  • Title (ET): Constituents whose role title (currently or previously) matches the specified criteria (e.g. Account Manager), based on EverTrue Enrichment data.

Career Moves Filter Group

  • Employment End Date (ET): Constituents who have an employment end date within a specified period of time, based on EverTrue Career Moves data.
  • Employment Start Date (ET): Constituents who have an employment start date within a specified period of time, based on EverTrue Career Moves data.
  • Type (ET): Constituents who have a career event type matching the specified type (e.g. new job), based on EverTrue Career Moves data.

General Filter Group

  • Age (ET): Constituents whose age fits the specified range based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Ethnicity: Constituents whose ethnicity matches the specified criteria.
  • Gender: Constituents whose gender matches the specified criteria.
  • Is Deceased: Constituents who are or are not deceased.

Interests Filter Group

  • Activities: Constituents who participated in an activity matching the selected criteria (e.g. campus tours).
  • Athletics: Constituents who participated in a sport matching the selected criteria (e.g. women's soccer).
  • Interests (ET): Constituents with an interest matching the selected criteria (e.g. Boston Celtics), based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Philanthropic Interests (ET): Constituents with a philanthropic interest that matches the selected criteria (e.g. environment), based on Windfall Wealth data.

Location Filter Group

  • City (ET): Constituents who have an address in a city matching the selected criteria, based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Country (ET): Constituents who have an address in a country matching the selected criteria., based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • Metro Area (ET): Constituents who have an address in a metro area matching the selected criteria, based on EverTrue Enrichment data.
  • State (ET): Constituents who have an address in a state matching the selected criteria, based on EverTrue Enrichment data.

Capacity Filters

Census Filter Group

  • Address Type: Constituents who have an address type matching the selected criteria (e.g. home address), based on U.S. Census Bureau data.
  • Is Primary Address: Constituents who have an address marked as primary, based on U.S. Census Bureau data.
  • Median Home Value: Constituents who live in a neighborhood with a median home value in the specified range, based on U.S. Census Bureau data.
  • Median Income: Constituents who live in a neighborhood with a median income in the specified range, based on U.S. Census Bureau data.

Scores Filter Group

  • Capacity: Constituents who have a capacity score matching the selected criteria.
  • Donor Score: Constituents who have a donor score matching the selected criteria.
  • Engagement Score: Constituents who have an engagement score matching the selected criteria. 
  • EverTrue Index: Constituents whose predicted future giving behavior falls into the specified group. This determination is based on the recency, frequency, and monetary value of their gifts.

Wealth Filter Group

  • Is Rated: Constituents who have or have not been rated.
  • Life Event Date (ET): Constituents who have a recent life event with a date occurring in the specified date range, based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Life Events (ET): Constituents who have a recent life event matching the selected criteria. (e.g. recent mover), based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Net Worth (ET): Constituents who have a net worth matching the specified entry, based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Net Worth Updated (ET): Constituents whose net worth updated within the specified date range, based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Physical Assets (ET): Constituents who own physical assets matching the selected criteria (e.g. boat owner), based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Wealth Indicator (ET): Constituents who have indications of wealth meeting the selected criteria (e.g. small business owner), based on Windfall Wealth data.
  • Wealthy Neighborhood: Constituents whose address is in a census tract with a median home value greater than $1M.

Engagement Filters

Events Filter Group

  • Date: Constituents who have an event with a date occurring in the specified date range (e.g. in the last year).
  • Event Name: Constituents who have an event with a name matching the selected criteria (e.g. Beanpot watch party).
  • Event Response: Constituents who have an event with a response matching the selected criteria (e.g. registered, attending, not attending, etc.).

Facebook Filter Group

  • Engagement Date: Constituents who have engaged with your connected Facebook pages within the specified date range.
  • Engagement Type: Constituents who have engaged with your connected Facebook pages using Facebook Reactions meeting the selected criteria  (e.g. like, love, etc.).
  • Has Engaged?: Constituents who have or have not engaged with your connected Facebook pages.
  • Last Engagement Date: Constituents whose last engagement with your connected Facebook pages occurred within the specified date range.
  • Page Name: Constituents who have engaged with your connected Facebook pages with names matching the selected criteria. 
  • Post Content: Constituents who have engaged with content on your connected Facebook pages matching the specified entry (e.g. contains "annual fund").
  • Total Comments: Constituents who have a total comment count on your connected Facebook pages in the specified range (e.g. 100-200).
  • Total Likes: Constituents who have a a total like count on your connected Facebook pages in the specified range. 

Graduway Filter Group

  • Is Registered User: Constituents who are  or who are not registered Graduway users.
  • Last Engagement Date: Constituents who used Graduway within the specified date range.

Volunteer Filter Group

  • Assigned to Volunteer: Constituents who are assigned to a volunteer matching the selected criteria.
  • Is a Volunteer: Constituents who are (or were previously) or are not volunteers for your organization.
  • Pool: Constituents who are a volunteer or a prospect in a pool matching the selected criteria.
  • Stage: Constituents who are a volunteer prospect in a stage matching the selected criteria.

Activity Filters

Interactions Filter Group

  • Author: Constituents who have an interaction with an author matching the selection criteria.
  • Date: Constituents who have an interaction with a date occurring in the specified date range.
  • Keyword: Constituents who have an interaction summary containing a keyword that matches the specific entry.
  • Solicitor: Constituents who have an interaction containing a solicitor(s) that matches the selected criteria. 
  • Type: Constituents who have an interaction type matching the selected criteria (e.g. call, email, etc.).

Portfolios Filter Group

  • Assigned to Solicitor: Constituents who are assigned to the solicitor(s) whose name matches the selected criteria.
  • Is Assigned: Constituents who are or are not assigned to a solicitor. 
  • Is Key Prospect: Constituents who are assigned to a solicitor, and who are or are not marked as a key prospect.
  • Solicitor Title: Constituents who are assigned to solicitor(s) with titles matching the selected criteria (e.g. gift officer).
  • Stage: Constituents who are assigned to a solicitor and are in the stage matching the selected criteria (e.g. ask).
  • Stage Updated: Constituents who are assigned to a solicitor and whose stage was updated within the specified date range.
  • Team: Constituents assigned to a solicitor who is part of the team(s) matching the selected criteria.

Proposals Filter Group

  • Ask Amount: Constituents who have a proposal with an ask amount in the specified range.
  • Ask Date: Constituents who have a proposal with an ask date in the specified date range. 
  • Date Created: Constituents who have a proposal with a created date in the specified date range. 
  • Expected Amount: Constituents who have a proposal with an expected amount in the specified range.
  • Expected Date: Constituents who have a proposal with an expected date in the specified date range. 
  • Funded Amount: Constituents who have a proposal with a funded amount in the specified range. 
  • Funded Date: Constituents who have a proposal with a funded date in the specified date range. 
  • Is Active: Constituents who have or do not have a proposal marked as Active
  • Keyword: Constituents who have a proposal with a title or description matching the specific entry. 
  • Original Amount: Constituents who have a proposal with an original amount in the specified range.
  • Original Date: Constituents who have a proposal with an original date in the specified date range.
  • Solicitor: Constituents who have a proposal with solicitor names matching the selected criteria.
  • Solicitor Type: Constituents who have a proposal with solicitor type matching the selected criteria (e.g. primary or secondary).
  • Stage: Constituents who have a proposal in a stage matching the selected criteria (e.g. cultivate). 

Giving Filters

Annual Filter Group

  • Amount: Constituents whose annual giving amount is in the specified range.
  • Fiscal Year: Constituents who have given during the fiscal years of the specified date range.

Lifetime Filter Group

  • Giving Pattern: Constituents who have a giving pattern matching the selected criteria (e.g. LYBUNT).
  • Is a Donor: Constituents who have or have not given at least once (i.e. have a Lifetime Giving of greater than 0).
  • Largest Gift Amount: Constituents who have a largest gift amount in the specified range.
  • Largest Gift Date: Constituents whose largest gift occurred within the specified date range. 
  • Last Gift Amount: Constituents who have a last gift amount in the specified range (e.g. > $100). 
  • Last Gift Date: Constituents whose last gift occurred within the specified date range. 
  • Lifetime Giving: Constituents who have a lifetime giving total in the specified range (e.g. $750,000 - $1,000,000).
  • Pledge Balance: Constituents who have a pledge balance in the specified range.
  • Recurring Payments Active: Constituents who currently have or do not have a recurring gift.

Transactions Filter Group

  • Campaign Credit: Constituents who have a gift transaction counting towards a campaign that matches the selected criteria. (e.g. annual fund 2022).
  • Designation: Constituents who have a gift for a designation matching the selected criteria (e.g. business school fund).
  • Designation Category: Constituents who have a gift of a designation falling within a specified category (e.g. arts).
  • Gift Amount: Constituents who made a gift of an amount in the specified range. the specified criteria.
  • Gift Date: Constituents who made a gift on a date in the specified date range. 

Custom Filters

Any custom fields implemented by your organization will appear in the Custom filters category and will be available for filtering as needed.


Defining Operators

  • Contains: Use when you want your results to include a specific phrase or piece of text (e.g. Event Name contains 'Alumni Reunion').
  • Does not contain: Use when you want your results to exclude a specific phrase or piece of text (e.g. Event Name does not contain 'Alumni Reunion').
  • Equals: Use when you want your results to pull a specific outcome. (e.g. Event Response equals 'Attending').
  • Does not equal: Use when you want your results to exclude a specific outcome (e.g. Gender does not equal 'male').
  • Is set: Use this operator as a 'yes' to confirm you have the specific information. (i.e. applying the Gender filter with the is set operator would pull results that have the gender on file).
  • Is not set: Use this operator as a 'no' to identify results that do not have specific information.
  • Is between: Use when you want to include results for a numeric range (e.g. Age is between 20 & 40)
  • Is not between: Use when you want to exclude a specific range from your results (e.g. Age is not between 20 & 40).
  • Is greater than: Use when you want to include results that fall above a set number (e.g. Age is greater than 40).
  • Is less than: Use when you want to include results that fall below a set number (e.g. Age is less than 20).
  • In the last: Use when you want to include results that fall within a window of time. (e.g. Last Engagement Date is in the last week).
  • Is not in the last: Use when you want to exclude a specific window of time from your results (e.g. Last Gift Date is not in the last 3 months).
  • Is on: Use when you want to pull results that include a specific date (e.g. Last Gift Date is on March 20th, 2021).
  • Is not on: Use when you want to pull results that exclude a specific date (e.g. Last Gift Date is not on March 20th, 2021).
  • Is before: Use when you want to include results that fall before a specific date (e.g. Funded Date is before March 20th, 2021).
  • Is after: Use when you want to include results that fall after a specific date (e.g. Funded Date is after March 20th, 2021).
