Creating and Viewing Dynamic Lists

Note: Dynamic Lists is a beta feature, and is not turned on by default. Please reach out to your CSM if you are interested in joining the beta testing group for this feature.

Now that you've learned more about our new Dynamic Lists feature, let's dive into the process of setting up a dynamic list! Be sure to turn on your Filters Beta toggle to access these actions.

To create a new dynamic list, navigate to your Search and Segment page from your Constituents tab by either clicking More Filters and applying your selected filters or by inputting your Quick Filters selections and clicking Go. Please note you will need to apply at least one filter to enable the option to create a dynamic list.

Once your filters are applied and you are on your Search and Segment page, click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the page and select Create Dynamic List

A creation popup will appear into which you will input a name for your dynamic list. A dynamic list name is required, and can be anything you'd like (with the exception of using a name made up of only spaces)! Click Save to finish the creation process.

To view your newly created dynamic list from the Constituents tab, you can click View list now in the popup that temporarily appears on the righthand side of the page after creating your list. Additionally, you will find a link to your dynamic list in your notifications bell icon once the list is ready for viewing.

Depending on the number of constituents in your filtered search, your dynamic list might take a few minutes to create and won't be immediately available within this dropdown. When the list is officially ready to open and explore, your notifications bell icon will light up and a link will be available.

There's no limit to the number of dynamic lists you can create and view, so go ahead and get started with building and saving any search you need to keep regular tabs on!

Once you've created a dynamic list, you can view the list within your Dynamic Lists tab. Opening this tab will bring you to a view of all of your dynamic lists organized by most recently updated. Use the dropdown on the right-hand side of the page to sort your lists by name, number of constituents, or last update.

This view also indicates list owner, the number of constituents found in each list, and the amount of time that has passed since its last update. The name of each list is hyperlinked, and clicking on one will bring you to a detailed view of that list.

If the number of constituents in a dynamic list changed in its last update, you will see a count of how many people were added or removed from the list within the Updated column. If a dynamic list is still being generated, you will see it labeled as Queued within the Status column.

Open a dynamic list to see its detailed view. Within this view, you will notice a Date Added column that will help you track when constituents met the dynamic list's criteria and were added to its results.  An Edit Columns button to the right of your dynamic list results allows you to adjust how you view the constituent data found in your table. Take a look at our help article to learn more about this customization process

You will find the option to create a dynamic list from an already-built bookmarked search. To use this method, open one of your bookmarked searches from the Bookmarked Search dropdown of your your Constituents tab. Once opened, click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the page and select Create Dynamic List.

A popup will appear into which you will be prompted to include a name for your dynamic list. A dynamic list name is required, and can be anything you'd like (with the exception of using a name made up of only spaces)! Be sure to click Save to finish creating the list!

Once created, you can view your new dynamic list by clicking View list now in the popup that temporarily appears on the righthand side of the page after saving the list parameters. Similarly to creating a dynamic list using filters, you will also find a link to the dynamic list in your notifications bell icon.

Depending on the number of constituents in your bookmarked search, your dynamic list might take a few minutes to create and won't be immediately available within your notifications dropdown. When the list is officially ready to open and explore, your notifications bell icon will light up and a link will be available.

Recreating Saved Searches as Dynamic Lists

Though we do not currently have a way to automatically migrate existing saved searches into dynamic lists, watch the following video to learn how you can manually recreate the searches you would like to pull over to Filters beta.

When recreating your saved searches as dynamic lists, we suggest using this migration process as an opportunity to clean up what you are currently tracking with Saved Searches! You can make adjustments to the filters included in your segmented searches, choose not to pull over searches you no longer reference, and determine which searches of yours don't require alerts and can instead be recreated as a bookmarked searches. Use our Finding your Filters help article outlining all category and filter changes to make easy work of rebuilding your saved searches as dynamic lists!
