Using Signal Email Drafts
Note: In-app outreach is a feature of Signal by EverTrue. If you have questions about Signal, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Signal Email makes it easy to draft emails in advance and return to them when you’re ready to refine and send. Below, we will walk through how to create a new draft, edit an in-progress message, and remove drafts you no longer need. Let’s get started!
Note: To use drafts, your email provider must be connected to EverTrue.
Creating a Draft
Step 1. Open an Email Composer
To create a draft, open an email composer from any location where you can send email in Signal:
- A constituent profile
- The Outreach tab
- The Cadences tab
- Email actions in the Tasks tab
Step 2. Compose Your Message and Save
Start drafting your message. Use the toolbar at the top of the composer to format text, adjust alignment, and insert dynamic fields.
When you’re ready, click the X in the top-right corner of the composer to close and save your message as a draft.
To discard your message without saving it as a draft, click the trash can in the bottom-right corner of the email composer.
Note:
- You can save a draft even if the recipients, subject line, or message body are left blank.
- If your session times out, any progress made in an open email composer will automatically save as a draft.
Step 3. Review Drafts
Once saved, drafts appear on the Drafts page on the Outreach > Your Emails tab.
For more information about what to expect in the Outreach tab, check out our Navigating the Outreach Tab article!
Editing a Draft
Step 1. Open the Draft
Navigate to the Drafts page in the Outreach > Your Emails tab and select the draft you want to modify.
Step 2. Make Changes
The selected draft will open in an Edit - Draft email composer at the bottom-right corner. From here, you can update recipients, adjust the subject line, or revise the body of your message.
Step 3. Send, Schedule, or Save the Draft
After you update the content, you can:
- Send the message immediately:
- Schedule it to send later
- Click the X in the upper-right corner to save your updates and return the message to your draft list.
Note: Only edits made directly in Signal will appear in the Outreach tab’s Drafts page. If you edit a draft directly in your email provider (Gmail or Microsoft Outlook), the changes will not sync back to the same draft in Signal.
Deleting a Draft
You can remove drafts individually or in bulk. Let’s take a look at both options.
Step 1. Delete a Single Draft
To delete one draft, navigate to the Drafts page in the Outreach > Email tab. Click the three-dot menu on the right side of the draft’s row and select Discard Draft.
A confirmation popup will appear. Click Discard to complete the action. Alternatively, open the draft and click the trash can in the bottom-right of the email composer to delete it.
Step 2. Delete Drafts in Bulk
To delete multiple drafts at once, select the checkboxes next to each draft you want to remove. Click the Actions dropdown in the upper-right corner and choose Discard Drafts.
A confirmation popup will appear. Click Confirm to complete the action.
Note: Drafts must be deleted in Signal to disappear from the Outreach tab. If you delete a draft directly in your email provider (Gmail or Microsoft), it will not be removed from Signal.
