Using List Activity

Understanding List Activity

List Activity is a collapsable feed found to the right of a private or shared list on your Lists tab. Within this feed, you will find an option to add comments to your list as well as a history of actions taken within a list. Taking advantage of the comments feature is a great way to provide useful context or action items for other collaborators. This feature also allows you to mention a colleague or link to a specific constituent profile.

Mentioning a Colleague

Mentioning colleagues in a comment is a useful way to draw their attention to a change you've made to a list, an ask you'd like help with, or a call to take a look at a specific constituent. If the person you mention is already a list collaborator, they will receive a notification that includes the comment's content. If they’re not already a collaborator, they will automatically be added to the list and receive a comment notification.

To mention a colleague, open a list within your Lists tab and type the @ symbol into the text box found under List Activity. Alternatively, click on the @ symbol found near the bottom of the text box to populate the character into your comment.

You'll be able to select your colleagues name from the suggested list that appears, or you can begin to type their name immediately after the @ symbol to narrow down the suggested list. Be sure to click Post Comment once you're done typing your message!

Linking a Constituent Profile

Constituent mentions form a direct link from your comment to the constituent's profile. This function is useful if you want to add commentary about why you added or removed a constituent from your list, or to ask somebody to take a look at a profile in more depth.

To link a constituent, open a list within your Lists tab and type the $ symbol into the text box found under List Activity. Alternatively, click on the hyperlink icon found near the bottom of the text box to populate the $ character into your comment.

You'll be able to select your constituent's name from the suggested list that appears, or you can begin to type their name immediately after the $ symbol to narrow down the suggested list. Be sure to click Post Comment once you're done typing your message!

List Notifications

As surfaced earlier, mentioning a colleague in a list comment will notify them of the comment content (and will add them to the list if they're not already a collaborator). We have a few other things we'd like you to know about list notifications:

  • List owners will receive notifications about Facebook updates.
  • A collaborator will only receive a notification that they were added to a list if the sharer chooses to notify them. They will not receive notifications about Facebook.
  • Owners and collaborators will not be notified when new collaborators are added to a list they already belong to or when constituents are added/removed.
