Navigating Gift Transactions
Understanding Gift Transactions
A variety of gift transaction records, such as pledge balances or recurring payments, exist in EverTrue. These types of payment recording insights can be imported into EverTrue as part of Total Giving or Giving Transactions.
Finding Pledge Balance
A constituent's pledge balance can be found under their profile's Giving tab. This figure is an imported value associated with their total giving and/or a specific category of giving. Using the dropdown found on the right side of Giving History, select from Total Giving or imported categorized options to see the specific pledge balances a constituent has with your institution.

You can also use a variety of filters to find various information within your Constituents tab.
- Filter on Pledge Balance to view the pledge balance associated with a set of constituents' Total Giving. You will set a numeric range to further filter this information.
Filter on Giving to view constituents who have given to a particular category. You will set a donor status to further filter this information.
Finding Recurring Payments
A constituent's recurring payment indicator can be found under their profile's Giving tab, next to the Giving History section. This is an imported boolean (true/false) field that indicates if a constituent has a recurring payment associated with their total giving and/or a specific category of giving. Using the dropdown found on the right side of Giving History, select from Total Giving or imported categorized options to see the specific recurring payments a constituent has with your institution.

You can also use a variety of filters to find recurring payment information within your Constituents tab.
- Filter on Recurring Payment to view a set of constituents who either do or do not have a recurring payment associated with their Total Giving.

Filter by Giving
EverTrue supports the inclusion of many giving categories in addition to Total Giving. This inclusion means that your users will be able to see more specific giving information on a constituent profile in EverTrue. If your institution maintains fiscal year giving totals for the annual fund, athletics, scholarships, and major gifts, we have steps to help you bring these totals into EverTrue.

- Contact us at genius@evertrue.com and let us know you would like to import additional giving categories.
- We recommend keeping the number of additional giving categories to a minimum for ease of use. If you are looking to implement more than 5 categories, talk to your Customer Success Manager or Implementation Partner.
- If adding this extra data will overload your constituent file, contact EverTrue Support to learn how to separate the information into a new CSV file.
- Once we have enabled the feature for you, import your new file and review the data in EverTrue.
Adding Transactional Giving
Transactional Giving is EverTrue's most detailed system for giving data. Imported as a separate data file, gift transactions enhance your platform experience by allowing you to drill into past gifts and filter on this information. If you would like to enable transactional giving, we can help!
- Email genius@evertrue.com and tell us that you would like to begin importing a transactional giving file.
- Review the Gift Transactions File Guide and draft a file.
- Once we have enabled the feature for you, import your new file and review the data in EverTrue.
- If you are currently importing files via SFTP, make sure to add this file to your nightly load.
To locate these transactions after import, head to the Giving tab of a constituent's profile and scroll down to the Gift Transactions section. Click the gift amount to open the Gift Detail view.
